Emmanuel Nmesomachi Eugene is a volunteer research assistant in the Black and Seniors Neighbourhood Lab at the University of Manitoba. He obtained a BSc in Social Work from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he completed a thesis on “Perceived Factors That Contributed to COVID-19 Vaccine Apathy in Southeastern Nigeria.” Currently, his research focuses on adopting community participatory methods to co-develop culturally tailored interventions for mitigating loneliness and social isolation among Black and racialized older adults in Canada. In the lab, he is contributing to projects such as “Defining Key Elements of Culturally Appropriate Interventions and Strategies for Black Older Adults.
